Bipolar Disorder- When the Body’s Communication System Malfunctions

To understand bipolar disorder and how bipolar medication works it is important to understand how the brain and its nervous system functions. Your brain is the control center of your body which controls just about everything the body does, even when we are sleeping and unaware. Do you notice when you are having dreams when you’re asleep? Well that is the brain at work when you are resting.

Understanding the Brain

Our human brain can be divided into 5 main parts with each doing its unique work in the human system. Each of these parts are linked by a communication system called the nervous system and if one of these communication system malfunctions it affects the whole body including the emotional part of the person.

If the brain gets sick the whole body is affected especially that part of the body the brain controls. When we talk about bipolar symptoms we are talking about an illness in the brain, the nervous system, or rather to put it in simple terms its communication system has gone terribly wrong.

Sensory Nerves

All information from the outside world, are gathered through the sensory nerves which then sends those information to the spinal cord and then speeds it to the brain. The brain then makes sense of that message and fires off a response.

Motor Neurons

After receiving information, the motor neurons, similar to a superhighway delivers instructions from the brain through to the rest of your body. This bundle of nerves, the spinal cord, running up and down the spine, runs high speed messages to and from the brain at every second.

The Nervous System

If you can imagine having people in a big town with no communication system would be unthinkable. It would be worse if there was a communication system but the information was landing in the wrong place. And because it is landing at the wrong place people will definitely be frustrated because they are getting the wrong messages. So at least you can get an idea of what is like when the human system is not sending and getting the right information. In a few words bipolar disorder is the person's brain and nervous system tying to manage basic behaviors.

Scientists Baffled

Even scientists cannot pinpoint where, how and what causes bipolar disorder. One of the main reason we still cannot point to the real cause of the problem is probably because we are dealing with electrical impulses and neuron hormone transmitters. There are a few things we can be sure that is genes which is the first, the second environment and the third neurotransmitters.

Bipolar Cure and Affects

If People with diabetics and Bipolar disorders do not take care of themselves, what can happen? Well, in the case of a diabetic person if the individual does not take medications they get sick and have a hard time healing. They could also lose their eye sight, have renal function, lose a limb etc.

So just like a diabetic a person with bipolar symptoms also needs proper medication. If proper medication is not taken each malfunction episode affects the brain in a way the cause mood swings. More than that people with bipolar disorders can lose the function of their brain. Lack of proper treatment can lead to addiction; loss of life through suicide or suicide attempts which can leave your body damaged. But the worst thing about bipolar disorder is the stigma that goes with the illness. So my advice would be too seek proper medication upon professional treatment and help you get pass this disease.
